Nairobi will be the second African city to host an OWIT conference, which presents a capacity building and networking platform for women entrepreneurs.
Do you want to know how to get into the lucrative export business? The Organization of Women in International Trade (OWIT) will be holding a conference to that end this October. This is a women entrepreneurs organization. It has 2000+ members in America, Western Europe and Africa.
On October 25th, at Intercontinental Hotel, OWIT will bring together key players aiding expansion of women’s space in global trade. The players are drawn from global OWIT chapters, financial institutions, NGOs and policy making. They will be initiating dialogue on issues that make it difficult for women to enter international business. Some of the issues include poor access to credit and inadequate market information.
This will happen on the second day of the conference. The first day of the Nairobi conference will involve a capacity building workshop for women entrepreneurs interests in international trade. Are you?
Theme of the conference is: Bridging the Gap; Empowering Businesses to go Global.
OWIT is organized by chapters. And President of the Nairobi Chapter, Ms. Mucha Mlingo expanded on this conference being a platform for women to solve their problems and interact.
She also gave a reason why Nairobi was picked as host. “We have selected Nairobi to host this year’s conference because we acknowledge Kenya’s vast potential to engage in global trade.”
This conference will be an opportunity to gain insight, like best practices, on international markets and opportunities. It has been made possible in association with partners; Safaricom, Thomson Reuters and Huawei. Huawei will also host a capacity building workshop, after, for women with products that can be exported. This will happen at Huawei Centre, Lavington.0
