The MILEAD Fellows Program seeks to identify and promote exceptional young African women with skills to succeed as part of a new generation of leaders in the continent.
MILEAD Fellows Program is a leadership development inititative by MILEAD – Moremi Initiative Leadership Empowerment and Development. This organization was started in 2004, Ghana. It has since grown its work to Pan-African level.
For example, this fellowship is open to all African women in the continent or diaspora. 25 women who are already exhibiting leadership potential in their community, organization or profession will be picked. Are you interested? You also need personal qualities like openness to multicultural experience. One more requirement is that applicants should be between 19 and 25 years old.
The MILEAD Fellows Program lasts a full year. Within this duration, participants will be involved in online seminars, informal networking, mentorship program plus other activities. There will be 3-weeks that will require full-time engagement, as this will involve residency in Ghana. The residency will see fellows take part in workshops, presentations and gain from lectures. The latter will see relevant topics discussed, like:
- Feminist leadership
- Innovation
- Entrepreneurship
- Emotional intelligence
- Fundraising
The cost of the residency has been worked out to be sh.450,000 ($4,500). MILEAD Fellows Program will offer full sponsorship to selected number of candidates. But it’s committing to ensure no qualified fellow misses out. All the same, candidates are encouraged to seek partial sponsorship as much as they can.
