3 things you must communicate to your employees

We all hear that ‘customer is king’ , however, when running a business, you will soon realise that the employee is King.

You might own the business but to run it, you will need the help of employees to bring your dream to reality. It is important to invest in your employees and more so, make them feel like the owners of the dream with you.

One of the things to do that is to frequently communicate with them and these are the three areas that are critical:

Business overall strategy

It is important to share overall strategy, of the business, with your employees so they each know what their goals are and what is expected of them. This is also a good time to know if there are employees who are not in line with what your plans and where each of them needs help to deliver.

Health of the business

Sometimes the business can be cash tight and they may not get the bonuses they were waiting for. Other times the economy is bad and there are rumours hat the business will be bought or cave-in. As their leader, you need to keep communicating to employees how the business is doing, so they plan ahead. This will also put them at ease so they can work without distractions

Your expectation

Employees will  always tell you what they want, for example, they will require a microwave, a water dispenser in the office, a fan etc. These are small things that make their environment better to work in.

What do you expect from your employees? These are things that need to be communicated early when hiring. Targets, discipline, efficiency, etc. All these are important to get you to where you want to go as a business, so make a point of sharing that with them early enough.
