If you are a social entrepreneur with a solution to housing problems you should definitely apply for the 2016 World Habitat Awards.
The World Habitat Awards were established, in 1985, by the Building and Social Housing Foundation as part of its contribution to the United Nations International Year of Shelter for the Homeless.
Every year, two awards are given to the projects that provide practical and innovative solutions to housing needs and problems. £10,000 is given to each of the winning projects. They are presented at the World Urban Forum and UN-Habitat Governing council.
Eligibility
- Any individual, organization or government who has an innovative and practical solution to housing needs and problems from any country in the world
- More than one entry can be made by the same individual or institution
- Entries should relate to housing project and processes that are either completed or in progress. Design and early stages of development are not eligible
- Previous submissions can be submitted, provided they’ve undergone further development
Initial submissions should comprise description of key aspects of the project, accompanied by images if possible. Full plans, costings and evaluation reports are not required at this stage.
