Did you know you speak determines your success? Here’s what to stop doing

Research has shown that people with certain kinds of voices are more likely to get ahead. People will often draw conclusions about your personality and ability based on how you speak.

For example, people with deeper voices are likely to be selected as leaders, those who use vocal fry are less likely to get hired, and men with high-pitched voices are seen as nervous. People who use up-speak show lack of confidence.

How you speak determines your career or business success. Here are ways through which you could increase your tone and vocal attractiveness:

Take a breather

Assuming you are dealing with a very difficult client, it may annoy you. Speak to your mind and do not be quick respond to such a person. Relax your emotions so that you do not end up responding sarcastically or in annoyance.

Avoid upspeak

Being a professional, you should sound definite. Do not make it look like you are asking permission whenever you make a statement.

As a lady boss, you have power and you are in charge. If you require something done, do not give options. For example if you were asking Ronny to do something, it would be more powerful to say, “Ronny, you’ll have that done by noon? Rather than, “Ronny will you have done that by noon?

Finish your words

Is it only me or do people who say words such as doin’, comin’ are insufferable? Articulate each sound in your words, it makes you sound more educated.

Control your pitch

We are have moments when we are very excited or disappointed. Emotions determine how high or low our voice pitches are. Try this, whenever you are emotional, breathe in and out twice and then express yourself.

As women, our voices are more harshly judged than men’s voices. Having the ability to access varied tones in our voices can help us to connect better in different situations.

People will respond with respect and attention whenever a woman speaks with a stronger, confidence and assertive voice.
