Fuliza M-PESA is a mobile overdraft service by Safaricom, in partnership with NCBA Bank and KCB Bank, that allows M-PESA users to complete transactions even when they have insufficient funds. This service is especially useful for buying goods, paying bills, or sending money when your M-PESA balance is low.
How to Apply for Fuliza M-PESA
To access Fuliza, you must be a registered M-PESA user with an active Safaricom line. Here’s how to opt in:
Register via USSD : *Dial 334# on your Safaricom phone, select Loans and Savings and choose Fuliza M-PESA and follow the prompts to opt in.
Register via the M-PESA App: Open the M-PESA App on your smartphone, navigate to Fuliza M-PESA under the “Loans and Savings” section and follow the on-screen prompts to activate the service.
Once successfully registered, you’ll receive an SMS confirmation with your Fuliza limit.
How to Use Fuliza M-PESA
Fuliza automatically covers transactions when you don’t have enough money in your M-PESA balance. You can use Fuliza for:
Sending Money – When sending money via M-PESA, Fuliza covers the shortfall.
Lipa na M-PESA – Pay for goods and services via Buy Goods or PayBill even with an insufficient balance.
Airtime Purchase – Buy Safaricom airtime directly from M-PESA using Fuliza.
Note: Fuliza does not allow cash withdrawals from agents or ATMs.
How to Manage Fuliza Repayments
Fuliza automatically deducts the amount you owe from your next M-PESA deposits. To manage your repayment effectively.
Check Your Outstanding Balance
- Dial *334#, select Loans and Savings, then Fuliza M-PESA to view your balance.
- Alternatively, use the M-PESA App to track your usage and repayment schedule.
- Make Manual Repayments
To repay your Fuliza balance manually:
Deposit funds into your M-PESA account, and the outstanding amount will be deducted automatically.
To make partial payments, send money to your own M-PESA number, and a portion will go toward your Fuliza repayment.
Increase Your Fuliza Limit
Your Fuliza limit may increase over time based on:
- Your M-PESA transaction history and usage.
- Timely repayment of previous Fuliza balances.
- Maintaining an active Safaricom line with regular transactions.
You can check your limit via *334# or through the M-PESA App.
Fuliza M-PESA Fees & Charges
Fuliza charges a one-time access fee of 1% plus a daily maintenance fee based on the amount borrowed. The fees range as follows:

Tip: Repay Fuliza as soon as possible to avoid accumulating charges.
How to Opt-Out of Fuliza M-PESA
If you no longer wish to use Fuliza, you can deactivate the service, dial *334#, go to Loans and Savings, select Fuliza M-PESA, and choose Opt-Out. You can also disable Fuliza via the M-PESA App.
Note: You must clear any outstanding Fuliza balance before opting out.
