Social intrapreneurs are invited to apply in the early-bird phase of IDEX Global Accelerator Fellowship program 2019 in Bangalore, India.
IDEX Global Accelerator Fellowship program was launched in recognition of the, increasingly important, role social enterprises play in solving social challenges. It stands out in supporting those who are employed in social businesses get training and experience.
Over 300 changemakers have benefited from the IDEX Fellowship program. This includes Kenyan alumni. The fellowship program is undertaken in two 6-month cycles, starting in January and July.

The fellowship begins with a ‘Pre-Departure Orientation‘ lasting 3 weeks. This involves virtual trainings, in the form of seminars, readings and strategic deliverables. The intent of this is to prepare you (the fellow) personally and professionally for field experience.
A 1-week ‘Field Orientation‘ follows. This takes place in India. Fellows gain insight from professionals within India’s social impact sector.
The ‘Social Enterprise Placement‘ is the IDEX Fellowship proper and lasts 24 weeks (6 months). It takes place in Bangalore, India. It involves plenty of fellow development, you will gain tremendously from it.
You will work full-time as a key staff member with one of IDEX partner enterprises. The work will involve hands-on involvement with projects. Concurrently, fellows will undertake custom developed curriculum modules.
The modules will cover:
- Managing Social Innovation
- Advocacy and Outreach
- Resource Mobilization
- Impact Measurement
Each module will require commitment of 4-5 hours each week. They will also require participation in 4 full-day capacity building workshops, led by subject matter experts, to fully complete.
After, there will be 1 day of ‘Reflection and Debriefing‘ to celebrate the cohort’s completion of the 2019 IDEX Fellowship.
Eligibility
- You must have at least one of a Bachelor’s, Master’s or Graduate Degree prior to start of the program (in any field)
- You must be proficient in written and spoken English
- You must be able to obtain India Business Visa for a minimum of 6 months
- You should have between 1 to 3 years of work experience.
IDEX Scholarship
Application to the IDEX Fellowship program will require a good CV and cover letter. You will also need to complete the Scholarship Essay Question. This gauges your understanding of the program, your interest in it and is a platform to expound on your work.
You are also to include your fundraising plan for the fellowship. IDEX awards scholarships based on passion and not, necessarily, financial need. You do not want to miss the program after being selected.
