As part of its ongoing commitment to sustainability, KCB has launched a major tree-planting initiative ahead of the 2025 World Rally Championship (WRC). The initiative kicked off at Shermoi Southlake Primary School and Mirera High School in Naivasha, where students and stakeholders planted 450 fruit and indigenous trees.
The initiative saw the distribution of 700 seedlings, including avocado, guava, pine, cypress, and grevillea, with both schools receiving an equal share. This effort aligns with KCB’s environmental strategy to reduce carbon emissions in the lead-up to the highly anticipated 2025 WRC, set to take place from March 20th to 23rd in Naivasha and other regions.
Beyond this launch, KCB has committed to planting 3,000 trees in partnership with schools that bank with them across various counties. The initiative will extend throughout the rally period and beyond, reinforcing the bank’s long-term dedication to environmental conservation.
This effort forms part of KCB’s broader sustainability agenda, which targets the planting of 1.5 million trees in 2025. It builds on the success of the KCB Linda Miti Initiative, through which 1.3 million trees were planted in previous years. By scaling up its tree-planting efforts, KCB continues to play a key role in combating climate change and promoting a greener future for Kenya.
