Kenyan firm wins Startup Battlefield Africa grand prize

A Nairobi startup beat 15 other competitors to win the 2017 Startup Battlefield Africa competition organized by Facebook and TechCrunch.

Did you apply? We shared it with you many months ago. The event was held on 11th October, 2017, in Nairobi and focused on these thematic areas

  1. social good – startup with a product most likely to catalyze social and economic development
  2. productivity and utility – startup with product or service most likely to go into full commercial production
  3. gaming and entertainment – startup with product or service most likely to see wide consumer adoption

The winner was Lori Systems. This is a logistics firm that offers payment solutions and a tracking platform for companies in the region. The firm won the grand prize of Sh.2.6 million beating not only the final 15 contestants but also the over 1000 startups that applied.
