Online Shopping Mall, Kilimall, has joined the Kenya Government initiative dubbed “Buy Kenya, Build Kenya.”
The government initiative encourages Kenyan manufacturers to sell their fashion items in Kenya at affordable prices, in a bid to promote local production, and have more Kenyans buy new clothes rather than mtumba.
In April, during the successful “First Ever Super Sale” organized by Ministry of Industry at KICC, President Uhuru Kenyatta announced that the government had issued VAT and duty exemption for export processing companies to sell 20 per cent of their production to the domestic market. Kilimall will be offering these fashion products and more Kenya-made products at affordable prices ranging from Sh.100, throughout the month of May.
Some of the Kenyan brands on offer are EPZ’s Alladin, Amaiya, Bata, and Kenafric, among others, offering clothes and shoes for men, women, and children.
Kilimall MD, Victor Ma says that Kilimall, also being Kenyan, brought this sale online to enable more Kenyans to afford quality products made in Kenya; and help build the Kenyan economy. “From the queues we saw at KICC, it is evident that Kenyans love Kenyan products and are actively looking for quality. That’s why we spoke with our Kenyan manufacturers and they agreed to bring even better deals online so that they are accessible to more Kenyans, conveniently.”
The sale started on May 1st and will run until the end of the month. Buyers can access it here.
