As you start a business, you will soon realise that it makes more economic sense to start a home office. As long as you have an internet connection, you can just have a desk and a chair and get work done.
However, it does not have to be boring and gloomy. you can create a beautiful home office that will make you feel like you are in a real corporate office …of course on a small budget.
Brenda shares 5 ways you can liven it up all by yourself.

Lighting
Lighting helps you not to strain when working on your computer so have your home office in good lighting. You can buy table lamps from the supermarkets if you can get natural lighting; the better. Natural lighting livens up a room better and also saves you costs on electricity.
2. Plants
Plants. Have a potted plant or two in your office. It’s one of the easiest way to liven/ brighten up a room.
Plants have also been known to create an environment of cleaner air, reduce stress and increase productivity. You can buy them from the roadside vendors or plant your own.
3. Storage space
Have a filing system that works. A cluttered space can bring down your moods and demotivate you. But having a good filing system for your paperwork is the difference between having a productive day or a slow day. Make sure you have a space to put your files in an orderly manner that saves you time when trying to locate specific documents. You can use multi purpose furniture like trunks that can double up as sitting and storage space.(trunk – can be used to store documents inside and also as a seat)
Mood board. Every now and then we run into some bumps along the road in our quest to grow our business and we need something to cheer us up and remind us why we’re doing what we’re doing and this is where a mood board comes in. A mood board is a collage of pictures, texts or small notes stuck on a board that you can place somewhere strategic to remind you why you do what you do and what you wish to achieve. So make yourself a mood board and use it as a daily reminder/ motivator.(image: www.littleliberty.com)
5. Picturesque walls
Print, frame and hang a collection of your favorite pictures is a quick and cheaper way to brighten your walls. You could also use some of your children’s paintings if you have some available. Some supermarkets have art pieces available that can be bought at affordable prices.
