Entrepreneur, Magatte Wade singles out bad laws as the reason for the poor business environment in Africa, in her passionate 9-minute TED Talk.
She shared her experience as a manufacturer in Senegal. She has to source raw materials from abroad, she then parts with high import tariff and deals with slow logistics, and other barriers like licensing and corruption. This is a shared experience in Kenya and all over the continent.
Magatte Wade puts it better than most – Africa is suffering from brain and muscle drain because of poverty. Poverty is a result of no source of income. Income comes from jobs. And jobs are created by entrepreneurs, particularly, small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs). Therefore, Africa should be prioritizing the SME environment.
