Miss.Africa seed fund is an initiative to support women and girls in the continent access opportunities in IT related training, jobs and leadership roles.
This is achieved through a grant for women and girls to launch or expand their own initiatives in the STEM fields. Read more about STEM here. Miss.Africa seed fund 2019 will reward projects that support women and girls in STEM.
Some of these kinds of projects include, but are not limited to:
- computer science workshops for women and girls
- early incubation of female tech entrepreneurs
- programming and app development training programs
- hackathons and coding boot camps for girls
The proposed project must have tangible impact. Miss.Africa seed fund will show preference for initiatives targeting under-served populations or locations. The same will be true for projects that take a collaborative approach, are innovative and have high potential for growth.

A grant of sh.500,000 ($5,000) will be given to the winning initiative. A secondary grant of sh.100,000 ($1,000) will be given to 2 other applicants that create “socio-economic value for women by leveraging tech opportunities.”
Miss.Africa seed fund 2019 is open to residents of any African country. But the applicants must demonstrate both leadership potential and experience conducting activities supporting women and girls in STEM fields. What’s more, you should be committed to developing a virtual community for supporting women and girls initiatives.
Deadline for application is 2nd July, 2019.
