By more, we mean “tailored trainings” at the UN Global Goals Week 2019. To qualify for this opportunity by WE Empower Challenge you have to be a woman entrepreneur, 22 years and older, with lead decision-making capacity in the business. The business should also have at least 3 full-time staff and have been in operation for 3 years or more.

Another criteria you will need to meet is having a business that generates at least sh.10 million ($100k) in annual sales. Finalists will need to provide evidence for this – through tax returns, audit reports, etc.
WE Empower Challenge will be selecting women who are advancing the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), through their work.
Application process
Application for the WE Empower Challenge will require be in 3 steps:
First: You will need to register an account on the WE Empower website. The link is at the end of this article.
Second: You will need to write about yourself, your business and a little about your country of business. You need to know which UN Regional Block your country belongs to. Do you? Kenya is in the African Group.
Third: You will also need to share a video, maximum 2 minutes, responding to a few inquiries. This is what you’ll tell:
- Your full name
- Your organization and job title
- Country your business is located
- Mission of your organization
- What you hope to achieve if selected
- Impact of your work on UN SDGs
Don’t worry about quality, you can record it with your phone. You can then submit the video as a link from platforms like YouTube or upload it when applying – size should not be more than 20MB.
It goes without mention that you should be committed to the entire WE Empower Challenge program. For instance, be available to travel to New York City in late September, 2019.
