SDGs and Her competition 2019 for women entrepreneurs (funded trip to Washington DC)

Women entrepreneurs are welcomed to apply for the SDGs and Her competition 2019, by the World Bank. Winners will enjoy a fully funded trip to Washington DC, among other benefits.

SDGs and Her is an online competition for women entrepreneurs to show how they support actualization of the SDGs – through their business operations. Other objectives, for World Bank, are to increase knowledge about SDGs and collaborate with private sector to share best practices and innovative ideas.

This is another edition of the SDGs and Her competition. In 2018, two women from Tanzania and Kenya were declared winners. The Kenyan, Charlot Mugoya was chosen for her work in providing clean energy.

SDGs and Her competition 2019 will also reward women entrepreneurs with leadership training and mentorship. There will showcase their achievement in Washington DC, April 2019, at World Bank-IMF spring meetings.

Eligibility
  • Be a woman owner of a business that has been in operation for at least 3 years
  • Have at least 1 employee and a maximum of 9 employees
  • Have a loan eligibility of under sh.1.01 million ($10,000) or annual sales of below sh.10.1 million ($100,000)

Selection will be done by a panel of judges. It will be based on your impact on SDGs, your vision and the clarity of your entry or application. You will be required to compete a short online template describing your work and to link your initiative or product to one or more SDGs.
