Women entrepreneurs are invited to apply for the SDGs and Her social impact competition under the World Bank. Winners will enjoy a funded trip to New York.
SDGs and Her competition 2018 aims to increase knowledge on the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). It is also an avenue to develop partnerships with private players on realising them, this includes micro-enterprises owned by women.
The Sustainable Development Goals were signed on by all member countries of the United Nations (UN) in 2015. They replaced the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs). This SDGs and Her competition requires women entrepreneurs to show how their business activities support realization of one or more SDGs.
Eligibility
- The enterprises should have between 1 to 9 employees
- The enterprises should be under sh.1 million ($10,000) loan eligibility or record sales of less than sh.10 million ($100,000)
Applicants will have to describe their work and expound on how their products or initiatives impact SDGs. It’s important to note that clarity of this will influence decision to select winners. Other considerations will be impact, vision and purpose.
The winning women of the SDGs and Her competition will be recognized at an event on the margins of the UN General Assembly Meeting, in New York, this September. Their stories will also be shared to the world.
