The Arena has launched a platform for young people in Kenya to share their ideas to an audience for an opportunity to network and also secure funding.
The Arena is an organization that supports the youth in Kenya to “achieve their ambitions.” This organization has now come up with a Kenyan upgrade on TED. You can cut to the chase and share your idea with the aim of securing funding.
This platform is called My Nairobi and culminates in you taking home money from the event organized by The Arena (provided you are in the 18-30 age bracket, get it; bracket). Here is how it works:
- You first submit your idea, as unconventional as it may be, to My Nairobi. You should be selected as one of the 7 finalist to present at My Nairobi event
- 10 days before the event you will be briefed on the day’s programme. The Arena will also give you ProTips on making a presentation
- At the My Nairobi event the take-home cash will be announced. Then you and the other finalists present for 5-7 minutes. This will be followed by audience questions and voting (you will also vote). A 30 minute vote count disguised as refreshment time will conclude this
- The day will end with the winner announced; you. The Arena will hand you the money to realize your idea.
Be selected for the next My Nairobi event by submitting your idea on the official website. One more thing, don’t miss out on, literally, hundreds of opportunities for Kenyan entrepreneurs.
