The MasterCard Foundation’s Fund for Rural Prosperity is a Sh.5 billion to help 1 million people in rural Africa get access to formal financial services.
It supports both new and existing ideas to innovate financial products, services and processes. 2017’s application to the MasterCard Foundation’s Fund for Rural Prosperity have been assessed in batches, through intermediary closing points.
This will be the third call, to close on 30th November, 2017. The previous two deadlines already passed on 8th August and 5th October, 2017.
Applicants from 24 African countries are eligible to apply, including Kenya.
Eligibility
- Both single institutions and those in partnership are invited to apply providing that the lead organization is in the business of improving access to financial services and is for-profit
- Institution (s) must be established and have a verifiable track record. Startups will need to prove credibility and experience in investors and management
- Demonstrate potential to increase provision of financial services to people in rural areas
- Applicants can apply for support of between Sh.25 million and Sh.250 million
