26,000 women in Dar es Salaam will get a boost from the Dar es salaam Commercial Bank. The Bank has set aside Tsh 8 billion credit facility to boost women in business, through Solidarity Group Landing.
Already, 18,000 women are benefitting from this fund .One of the challenge the bank is that many women have to seek permission from their husband to take up this loan, and most are not allowed to.
The fund comes as a relief for Tanzanian women who, despite their enormous contribution towards economic development, unfortunately do not always have easy access to banking services for many reasons, including fear due to low level of education, limited information and exposure, adverse culture, ,inferiority complex, dependency and poverty and culture.
Ms Haika Machaku, the Bank’s senior Branch manager urged women to take up this opportunity to grow and improve their business on Worlds Women’s day.
