YALI Regional Leadership Center East Africa 2018 fellowship program

YALI Regional Leadership Center East Africa is one of the four YALI regional hubs that serve the African continent in identifying and supporting a new generation of African leaders.

YALI – Young African Leaders Initiative – was launched by Barack Obama in 2010. It’s fellowship program trains young Africans on business and entrepreneurship, civic leadership and public management. This 4-week residential fellowship has a focus on both the participant’s individual and team contribution.

YALI fellowship program also has in place ‘after-program’ opportunities that extend beyond the networks created. As an alumni, you can serve as a volunteer to help organize and coordinate YALI Regional Leadership Center East Africa activities such as; recruitment, application review and training.

Alumni also have an opportunity to apply for financial and non-financial resources that support collective action that help provide meaningful activities, training, events, workshops and community forums.

Eligibility
  • You must be aged between 18 and 35 at submission of application
  • Must be a citizen of one of the following countries; Burundi, Central African Republic, Congo, DR Congo, Djibouti, Eritrea, Ethiopia, Kenya, Rwanda, Somalia, South Sudan, Sudan, Tanzania, Uganda
  • Must not be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident
  • Proficient in English communication
