Reportedly, Facebook is close to rolling out a feature in Kenya to bill its Ads through the mobile money platforms M-Pesa, Airtel Money and EazzyPay.
It is reported that all work has been completed in integrating mobile money, in Kenya, to Facebook’s Ads billing system. Only regulatory approval stands between the feature and launch. Similar initiatives have been implemented in Nigeria and South Africa.
Facebook has been looking to increase its Advertising revenue in Africa and has shown such commitment by opening its first office in Africa. Ads are the main source of income for the social media giant.
It is worth noting that the company’s founder, Mark Zuckerberg, had revealed on his 2016 visit to Kenya that he wanted to “learn more about mobile money, where Kenya is the World leader.”
Facebook is the largest social media site in the World, with over 2 billion users globally. Around 6 million Kenyans are active on the site.
