Bob Collymore Foundation Debuts BC Jazz Lounge Featuring Wynton Marsalis and the Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra

The Bob Collymore Foundation is launching its first-ever BC Jazz Lounge, part of the BC International Jazz Festival (BCIJF). Headlining this milestone event will be the celebrated Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra, led by trumpeter-composer Wynton Marsalis.

Set for October 1st and 2nd, 2025, the Orchestra will perform two headline shows at Nairobi’s Tamarind Gardens. Beyond the music, the program aims to uplift and educate: students and emerging local artists — including participants from Ghetto Classics — will get the chance to join a masterclass and other educational sessions.

This tour marks the Orchestra’s inaugural multi-country Africa journey. With Marsalis at the helm — also serving as Artistic Director of Jazz at Lincoln Center and a leading figure in jazz worldwide — the ensemble brings a lineup of 15 gifted instrumentalists, soloists, composers, and arrangers. Special guests include drummer Herlin Riley, percussionist Weedie Braimah, and vocalist Shenel Johns. They’ll premiere Afro!, Marsalis’s latest work, which follows his acclaimed projects like Blood on the Fields, Congo Square, Ochas, and The South African Songbook.
